German qualifier Jule Niemeier reached the last 16 of the Berlin Open by defeating Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (4), 6-4 at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Tuesday evening.

Niemeier, ranked No 120, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Bianca Andreescu and Czech wildcard Marketa Vondrousova next.
