Qualifier Veronika Kudermetova reached the last 16 of the Berlin Open by edging out Liudmila Samsonova 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club.
Kudermetova, ranked No 35, will play No 3 seed Elena Rybakina next.
