Marketa Vondrousova faces a battle to be fit in time to begin the defence of her Wimbledon title after she suffered a leg injury in the Berlin Open on Thursday.
The Czech slipped on the grass behind the baseline in her second-round match with Russian Anna Kalinskaya at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in Berlin.
After trying to continue, the left-hander pulled out when the score was level at 5-5 and with just a week and a half until Wimbledon begins, faces an anxious wait to see if she will be fit to play.
The Russian will face the winner of the match between Russian Daria Kasatkina and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Berlin tournament, Anna Kalinskaya won against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (2-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Marketa Vondrousova defeated Spanish qualifier Rebeka Masarova (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Berlin tournament.
