Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova beat Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Berlin Open at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club.
Alexandrova, ranked No 20, will play top seed Coco Gauff next.
