BBVA Open Internacional De Valencia: Pigossi battles past Sramkova to reach last eight
Laura Pigossi edged out Rebecca Sramkova 7-6 (5), 6-7 (6), 7-6 (10) on Thursday evening and will play Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich in the next round

Brazilian Laura Pigossi advanced to the quarter-finals of the BBVA Open Internacional De Valencia by edging out Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (6), 7-6 (10).
Pigossi, ranked No 115, will play Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich next.
The Brazilian defeated Spanish wildcard Leyre Romero Gormaz (6-4, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Sramkova, ranked No 112, won against Thai qualifier Lanlana Tararudee (6-3, 6-1).
