American Ann Li won the BBVA Open Internacional De Valencia final by beating Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, the top seed, 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday evening.
Li, ranked No 172, defeated Spanish wildcard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales (6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1), Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 3 seed (2-6, 6-3, 6-3), Elvina Kalieva (6-2, 6-0) and Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the second seed (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Tomova, ranked No 69, beat Croat Lea Boskovic (6-0, 4-6, 6-2), Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva (7-5, 2-6, 6-1), Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-1) and Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (2-6, 6-3, 6-4).
