BBVA Open Internacional De Valencia: Bjorklund wins third three-setter in a row to reach semi-finals

Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund defeated fourth seed Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 3-6, 7-6 [4], 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the BBVA Open Internacional De Valencia on Friday.
This was the third consecutive three-set battle for Bjorklund, who had defeated Spanish wildcard Aliona Bolsova (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) and Slovak Kristina Kucova, the No 6 seed (1-6, 6-4, 7-5) in the earlier rounds.
Bjorklund, ranked No 134, will face the winner of the match between China’s Xiyu Wang and Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova next.
