World No 1 Ash Barty continued to showcase some of her best tennis as she defeated former French Open champion Iga Swiatek in a high-quality straight sets semi-final at the Adelaide International on Saturday evening.
25-year-old Barty dominated the first set and survived a tough second set challenge from her talented Polish opponent before closing out the 6-2, 6-4 win in one hour and 27 minutes.
The key difference turned out to be break point chances with Barty converting three of five chances she earned while saving both on her own serve.
In the final, Ash Barty will meet seventh seed Elena Rybakina, who defeated Japan’s Misaki Doi 6-4, 6-3 in the first semi-final of the day.
Barty is also through to the doubles final in Adelaide with countrywoman Storm Sanders, and the duo will meet Darija Jurak/ Andreja Klepac for the title.
