Croat Antonia Ruzic moved into the last four of the Barranquilla Open by beating Argentinian Solana Sierra 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on Thursday night.
Ruzic, ranked No 185, will play the winner of the match between German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, and Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens, the No 6 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Croat won against Colombian Emiliana Arango, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-4) and American Varvara Lepchenko (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Sierra, ranked No 165, defeated Su Jeong Jang (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) and qualifier En-Shuo Liang (6-4, 6-2).
