Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 4 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Barranquilla Open by winning against Georgian Mariam Bolkvadze 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday night.
Podoroska, ranked No 88, will face Ukrainian Anastasiya Sobolieva next.
The Argentinian defeated Chinese Xiaodi You (6-2, 6-2) and Chinese Xinyu Gao (6-1, 2-0 ret.) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Bolkvadze, ranked No 234, beat Russian Maria Timofeeva (3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-0) and edged out Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot, the No 8 seed (6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3)).
