German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Barranquilla Open by defeating American Elizabeth Mandlik 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Thursday.
Maria, ranked No 71, will face Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens, the No 6 seed, next.
The 37-year-old German won against Colombian wildcard Maria Herazo Gonzalez (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round.
In the 32, Mandlik, ranked No 167, won against qualifier Jessica Failla (6-4, 6-2).
