German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Barranquilla Open by winning against Australian Daria Saville 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday night.
Maria, ranked No 58, will face American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko next.
The 36-year-old German defeated Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda (6-1, 6-1) and Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou (6-0, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Saville, ranked No 211, benefited from the abandonment of German qualifier Jasmin Jebawy (4-2) and benefited from the forfeit of German wildcard Sabine Lisicki.
