Barranquilla Open: Bolkvadze into quarter-finals
The Georgian will face the winner of the match between Chinese Xinyu Gao and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 4 seed, in the next round

Georgian Mariam Bolkvadze edged out Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot, the No 8 seed, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) to move into the last eight of the Barranquilla Open on Wednesday.
Bolkvadze, ranked No 234, will face the winner of the match between Chinese Xinyu Gao and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 4 seed, next.
In the previous round, the Georgian won against Russian Maria Timofeeva (3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-0).
Jacquemot, ranked No 141, beat Linda Klimovicova (6-0, 4-6, 6-3) in the first round.
