Katerina Siniakova upset No 2 seed Liudmila Samsonova 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Bad Homburg Open at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe on Friday.
Siniakova, ranked No 52, will play American Emma Navarro next.
Katerina Siniakova beat Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-4) and Russian Evgeniya Rodina (6-2, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Samsonova, ranked No 15, defeated Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 6-4) and Linda Noskova (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
