Russian Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed, reached the last 16 of the Bad Homburg Open by defeating Romanian Jaqueline Cristian 6-2, 6-1 at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe on Monday.
Gracheva, ranked No 43, will face Italian Sara Errani next.
