Bad Homburg Open: Bronzetti makes semi-finals, could face Swiatek next
Lucia Bronzetti won against Varvara Gracheva 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 9 seed, in the next round
Italian Lucia Bronzetti advanced to the last 4 of the Bad Homburg Open by beating Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed, 6-4, 6-3 at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe on Thursday.
Bronzetti, ranked No 65, will face the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 9 seed, next.
The Italian won against Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 6-1) and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 4 seed (1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Gracheva, ranked No 43, defeated Romanian Jaqueline Cristian (6-2, 6-1) and Italian Sara Errani (6-2, 7-5).
