Donna Vekic benefited from the withdrawal of Katerina Siniakova on Thursday to reach the semi-finals

Croat Donna Vekic moved into the last four of the Bad Homburg Open after Katerina Siniakova withdrew before the match.
Ahead of her victory, Vekic, ranked No 49, defeated Italian qualifier Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 6-4) and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 6 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
Siniakova, ranked No 27, won against Frenchwoman Clara Burel (6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-1) and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
