Avanesyan overcomes Frech in Merida first round
Elina Avanesyan came back from a set down to defeat Magdalena Frech on Monday in Merida. Avanesyan will face either Jessica Bouzas Maneiro or Renata Jamrichova.

Armenian Elina Avanesyan reached the last 16 of the Mérida Open Akron by defeating Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 7 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Monday night.
Avanesyan, ranked No 45, will next play the winner a the match between Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Slovak wildcard Renata Jamrichova.
