Austin Open: Yuan sets up all-Chinese final against Wang

China’s Yue Yuan, the No 8 seed, won against Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Saturday.

Yuan, ranked No 68, will play fellow Chinese player Xiyu Wang, the No 6 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, Yuan beat Australian Arina Rodionova (3-6, 6-3, 6-1), American Taylor Townsend (6-3, 7-6 (5)) and Yafan Wang (6-3, 7-5).

Schmiedlova, ranked No 76, won against American Peyton Stearns, the No 7 seed (6-2, 4-6, 7-5), American qualifier Sachia Vickery (5-7, 7-6 (5), 7-5) and Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (4-6, 1-2 ret.) in the previous rounds of the Austin tournament.
