Austin Open: Yuan makes last four, faces Schmiedlova next
Yuan won against Yafan Wang 6-3, 7-5 in the quarter-finals on Friday
No 8 seed Yue Yuan won against Yafan Wang 6-3, 7-5 to reach the last four of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Friday.
Yuan, ranked No 68, will face Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova next.
Yue Yuan beat Australian Arina Rodionova (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) and American Taylor Townsend (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous rounds of the Austin tournament.
Earlier in the week, Wang, ranked No 69, defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Colombian Emiliana Arango (6-2, 6-2).
