Chinese Yafan Wang defeated Colombian Emiliana Arango 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last 8 of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Wednesday evening.
Wang, ranked No 69, will face the winner of the match between Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 8 seed, and American Taylor Townsend next.
In the previous round of the Austin tournament, the Chinese won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4).
Arango, ranked No 121, beat American Alycia Parks (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Austin tournament.
