Kostyuk makes her first WTA final, defeating Collins in Austin

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 8 seed, won against American Danielle Collins, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Saturday.
Kostyuk, ranked No 52, will face Russian Varvara Gracheva, who defeated American Katie Volynets in the second semi-final.
Kostuk will play her first WTA final after four attempts in semi-final at Granby 2022 (Saville), Cluj 2021 (Halep), Istanbul 2021 (Cirstea) and Abou Dhabi 2021 (Kudermetova).
The 20-year-old Ukrainian beat Hungarian Dalma Galfi (7-5, 6-1), American Madison Brengle (6-3, 3-6, 6-0) and German Anna-Lena Friedsam (7-6 (6), 6-2) ahead of her victory.
Collins, ranked No 38, defeated Pole Magdalena Frech (6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-4), Catherine McNally (6-1, 6-1) and Russian Anna Kalinskaya (3-6, 6-2, 6-1).
