Austin Open: Danielle Collins through to second quarter-final of the season
The former Australian Open runner-up will play the winner of the match between Russian Anna Kalinskaya and American lucky loser Coco Vandeweghe in the quarter-finals
Fourth seed Danielle Collins defeated fellow American Caty McNally 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Thursday.
The hard-hitting Collins needed only one hour and six minutes for the win in which she broke her opponent five times and did not lose her serve at all.
Collins, ranked No 38 in the world and a runner-up at the 2022 Australian Open, will face the winner of the match between Russian Anna Kalinskaya and American lucky loser Coco Vandeweghe next.
Ahead of her victory, Danielle Collins edged out Pole Magdalena Frech (6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-4).
McNally, ranked No 75, won against qualifier Ashlyn Krueger (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Austin tournament.
