Austin Open: Collins finishes strong to book spot in quarter-finals

No 3 seed Danielle Collins beat wildcard Katie Volynets 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0 to advance to the last 8 of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Thursday evening.

Collins, ranked No 48, will play Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 6 seed, next.

Danielle Collins won against Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki (7-5, 6-3) in the previous round of the Austin tournament.

During the first round of the Austin tournament, Volynets, ranked No 112, won against Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-4, 7-6 (6)).
