Dane Clara Tauson, the No 5 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Auckland Open by winning against American Madison Keys, the top seed, 6-4, 7-6 (7) on Saturday.

Tauson, ranked No 50, will play Robin Montgomery next at the ASB Tennis Arena.

The 22-year-old Dane beat Italian qualifier Lucrezia Stefanini (6-2, 6-3) and American Sofia Kenin (4-6, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (3)) ahead of her win today.

In the previous rounds of the tournament, Keys, ranked No 21, won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-4, 6-4) and Romanian Jaqueline Cristian (6-1, 6-2).
