Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 6 seed, beat local wildcard Luisina Giovannini 6-0, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Argentina Open at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday.
Zarazua, ranked No 135 in the world, will face No 3 seed Elizabeth Mandlik next.
In the previous round of the tournament, the Mexican won against Dutchwoman Eva Vedder (7-6 (3), 7-5) while Giovannini defeated American qualifier Anna Rogers (6-2, 6-3) in the first round of the event.
