Argentina Open: Pigossi edges past Sierra to make semi-finals

Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 5 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Argentina Open by defeating Argentinian Solana Sierra 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
Pigossi, ranked No 137, will face Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 6 seed, next.
The Brazilian edged out Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) and won against Swiss Conny Perrin (6-2, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Argentinian tournament, Sierra, ranked No 209, beat American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko (6-2, 6-2) and American Robin Montgomery (6-4, 7-5).
