Argentina Open: Hercog moves into second round after Monnet retirement
Polona Hercog benefited from the abandonment of Carole Monnet (6-4, 0-2) on Monday evening and will face the winner of the match between Argentinian wildcard Guillermina Naya and Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova in the next round
Slovenian Polona Hercog moved into the second round of the Argentina Open when Frenchwoman Carole Monnet, the No 9 seed, retired on Monday evening at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
Hercog, ranked No 292, led 6-4, 0-2 when Monnet, ranked No 174, pulled out on Monday evening at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
The Slovenian will face the winner of the match between Argentinian wildcard Guillermina Naya and Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova next.
