Andorrà Open: Erika Andreeva reaches quarter-finals

Erika Andreeva edged out Celine Naef 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon. She’ll face the winner of the match between wildcard Ella Seidel and No 7 seed Anna-Lena Friedsam in the next round

Russian Erika Andreeva reached the quarter-finals of the Andorrà Open by edging out Swiss Celine Naef 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Polideportivo de Andorra in Andorre on Wednesday afternoon.

Andreeva, ranked No 140, will face the winner of the match between wildcard Ella Seidel and No 7 seed Anna-Lena Friedsam next.

Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old Russian defeated Swiss Susan Bandecchi (6-3, 6-4).

Naef, ranked No 138, edged out Spaniard Cristina Bucsa, the top seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Andorrà tournament.
