Alert – Dubai Open: Paolini wins the final
Jasmine Paolini won the title on Saturday evening against Anna Kalinskaya
Italian Jasmine Paolini edged out Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaya 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to lift the Dubai Open trophy at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Saturday evening.
Paolini, ranked No 26, beat Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 11 seed (4-6, 6-4, 6-0), Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-3, 6-4), Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-2), Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed (W/O) and Romanian Sorana Cirstea (6-2, 7-6 (6)) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament, Kalinskaya, ranked No 40, defeated Australian qualifier Storm Hunter (6-1, 6-2), Spanish lucky loser Cristina Bucsa (6-3, 6-4), Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 9 seed (6-4, 7-5), American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed (6-4, 6-4).
