Alert: Collins routs Alexandrova in Miami semi-finals
Danielle Collins made quick work of Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets on Thursday in Miami. Collins is into the final for a showdown against Elena Rybakina.
American Danielle Collins moved into the final of the Miami Open by beating Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 14 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night.
Collins, ranked No 53, will battle No 4 seed Elena Rybakina for the title on Saturday.
The American previously defeated lucky loser Bernarda Pera (3-6, 6-1, 6-1), Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 30 seed (6-2, 6-2), Russian Elina Avanesyan (6-1, 6-2), Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 19 seed (6-3, 6-2) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 23 seed (6-3, 6-2).
Alexandrova, ranked No 16, made her impressive run to the semis at the expense of Croat Donna Vekic (6-3, 6-4), No 21 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (6-4, 3-6, 6-3), Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed (6-4, 6-2) and American Jessica Pegula, the No 5 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-4).
