WTA Adelaide: Kudermetova sees off Krueger in straight sets
Veronika Kudermetova defeated Ashlyn Krueger 6-2, 7-5 on Tuesday and will play the winner of Magda Linette and Ekaterina Alexandrova in the next round
Veronika Kudermetova, the No 8 seed, beat American lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the second round of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Tuesday night.
In a match where both women had chances, it was Kudermetova that won the pressure moments. The Russian saved all six break points she faced, while breaking her opponent’s serve on three occasions across the two sets.
Kudermetova, ranked No 16, will face the winner of the match between Pole Magda Linette and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
