Adelaide Open: Jabeur knocks out Collins in first round
Ons Jabeur defeated Danielle Collins in straight sets on Tuesday. She’ll play Kazakh Yulia Putintseva next
Tunisian wildcard Ons Jabeur won against American Danielle Collins, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (6), 6-2 to reach the second round of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Tuesday.
Jabeur needed a little over 90 minutes to knock Collins out.
The Tunisian faced a tough task in the opening set that went to a tiebreaker after she and Collins remained tied in the stipulated 12 games, breaking each other twice. The second set, however, panned out differently as the world No 40 converted two more break points to win the match.
Jabeur will face Kazakh Yulia Putintseva next.
