Mexican Renata Zarazua edged out Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 to advance to the second round of the Abierto Tampico at Centro Libanes Mexicano de Tampico on Wednesday night.
Zarazua, ranked No 291, will face Pole Magda Linette, the No 5 seed, next.
