Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 6 seed, moved into the last four of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico by winning against German Tatjana Maria, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (6), 6-2 on Thursday.
Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 112, will face Canadian qualifier Marina Stakusic next.
The Spaniard defeated Mexican wildcard Ana Sofia Sanchez (6-0, 6-1) and Russian Polina Kudermetova (6-3, 6-4) ahead of her win today.
Earlier in the week, Maria, ranked No 95, won against Serb Nina Stojanovic (6-3, 6-1) and Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (7-5, 6-2).
