American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko won against German Jule Niemeier, the second seed, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the last 16 of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico on Tuesday.
Lepchenko, ranked No 149, will next play Swiss Jil Teichmann, who defeated Mexican wildcard Victoria Rodriguez.
