No 5 seed Anna Blinkova won against Anastasia Tikhonova 6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-1 to advance to the last eight of the Abierto Tampico on Wednesday.
Blinkova, ranked No 85, will face the winner of the match between Swiss Jil Teichmann and American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko next.
Anna Blinkova defeated Slovak Veronika Erjavec (6-3, 6-0) ahead of her win today.
In the previous round, Tikhonova, ranked No 189, beat Croat Antonia Ruzic (6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-3).
