Wimbledon: Zverev books spot in last 16 after marathon tiebreak
Alexander Zverev defeated Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (15) on Saturday. He’ll play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 13 seed, and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 24 seed, in the next round
German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, defeated Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (15) to move into the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Saturday afternoon.
Zverev, ranked No 4, needed six match points before he could win the marathon third set tiebreak and advance. He will face American Taylor Fritz, the No 13 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the tournament, the German won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-2, 6-4, 6-2) and American Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-1, 6-4).
Norrie, ranked No 42, won against Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta (7-5, 7-5, 6-3) and No 28 seed Jack Draper (7-6 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (6)) earlier in the tournament.
