Chinese Zhizhen Zhang, the No 32 seed, won against French qualifier Maxime Janvier 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Zhang, ranked No 38, will play German Jan-Lennard Struff next.
