Wawrinka, oldest player left at Wimbledon, advances

Swiss Stan Wawrinka won against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 7-5, 7-5, 6-4 to move into the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday evening.

The 38-year-old, a two-time quarter-finalist who improves to 21-16 lifetime at the All England Club, is the oldest player remaining in either singles draw at SW19.

Wawrinka, ranked No 88, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 29 seed, and Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles next.
