Wimbledon: Vondrousova knocks out Vekic to make last 16 for the first time
The Czechwoman will face countrywoman Marie Bouzkova in the fourth round
Marketa Vondrousova won against Croat Donna Vekic, the No. 20 seed, 6-1, 7-5 to move into the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
Vondrousova, ranked No 42, will face No 32 seed Marie Bouzkova, who upset Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed, in another third round clash.
This is the first time that Vondrousova is through to the last 16 at Wimbledon, which means she has made the fourth round at all the four Majors to go along with her Olympic silver medal.

Earlier in the tournament, Vekic, ranked No 21, won against Chinese Shuai Zhang (6-2, 6-3) and edged out American Sloane Stephens (4-6, 7-5, 6-4).
