Marketa Vondrousova edged out American Jessica Pegula, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday.
Vondrousova, ranked No 42, will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Ukrainian wildcard Elina Svitolina next.
Marketa Vondrousova defeated American Peyton Stearns (6-2, 7-5), Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 12 seed (6-3, 6-3), Croat Donna Vekic, the No 20 seed (6-1, 7-5) and No 32 seed Marie Bouzkova (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, Pegula, ranked No 4, won against Lauren Davis (6-2, 6-7 (8), 6-3), Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-1, 6-4), Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-4, 6-0) and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-1, 6-3).
