Tsitsipas wins, to meet Kyrgios in Wimbledon third round

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, defeated Australian Jordan Thompson 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 to move into the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.

Tsitsipas needed two hours and four minutes to complete the win in which he converted six of 11 break point chances while losing only one of his service games during the contest.

This is only the second time that Tsitsipas has advanced to the third round at Wimbledon – his previous best showing was a fourth round appearance in 2018.

The Greek will next face Australian Nick Kyrgios, who upset 26th seeded Filip Krajinovic in straight sets.
