Tiafoe advances to fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time
Frances Tiafoe defeats Alexander Bublik 3-in four sets to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon where he meets either Ugo Humbert or David Goffin
American Frances Tiafoe, the No 23 seed, advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career after a four set win over Kazakh Alexander Bublik.
The 24-year-old Tiafoe beat Bublik 3-6, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3) on Friday to reach the last 16. His best result at a Grand Slam has been a quarter-final finish at the Australian Open in 2019.
Tiafoe is one of eight American men into the third round
Ranked No 28 in the world, Tiafoe is one of eight American men into the third round of Wimbledon. He will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Ugo Humbert and Belgian David Goffin in the fourth round.
This was the first time in three rounds that the American had dropped a set at Wimbledon this year, having beaten Italian qualifier Andrea Vavassori (6-4, 6-4, 6-4) and German qualifier Maximilian Marterer (6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (3)) both in straight sets.
