Wimbledon: Shnaider races past Stephens to make third round
Diana Shnaider beat Sloane Stephens 6-1, 6-1 on Wednesday evening. She’ll face American Emma Navarro, the No 19 seed, in the next round
Russian Diana Shnaider defeated American Sloane Stephens 6-1, 6-1 to move into the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Shnaider, ranked No 30, will play American Emma Navarro, the No 19 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Russian edged out Karolina Pliskova (4-6, 6-4, 7-5).
Stephens, ranked No 50, won against French lucky loser Elsa Jacquemot (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of The Championships.
