Wimbledon: Shapovalov makes third round, faces Ruud-conqueror Broady

Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 26 seed, beat Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7) to advance to the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.

Shapovalov, ranked No 29, will next face British wildcard Liam Broady, who upset Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, in the second round.

The Canadian won against qualifier Radu Albot (5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of The Championships, Barrere, ranked No 49, won against South African Lloyd Harris (7-5, 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-3).
