Wimbledon: Sakkari sets up third-round clash with Raducanu
Maria Sakkari defeated Arantxa Rus 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday evening and will play wildcard Emma Raducanu in the next round

Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, won against Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 7-5, 6-3 to reach the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Wednesday evening.
The win sees Sakkari avoid another early exit at Grand Slams, with the Greek having not made the second week of a major since 2021. Already, this is her best result since the 2023 Australian Open.
Sakkari, ranked No 9, will face wildcard Emma Raducanu next.
The Greek beat American qualifier McCartney Kessler (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of The Championships.
In the first round of The Championships, Rus, ranked No 56, defeated Chinese Yue Yuan (6-2, 6-3).
