Wimbledon: Rybakina through to quarter-finals as Haddad Maia retires after five games

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon when Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 13 seed, retired at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Rybakina, ranked No 3, led 4-1 when Haddad Maia, ranked No 13, pulled out at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday afternoon.
The Kazakh will face the winner of the match between Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 6 seed, and No 9 seed Petra Kvitova next.
Elena Rybakina won against American Shelby Rogers (4-6, 6-1, 6-2), Frenchwoman Alize Cornet (6-2, 7-6 (2)) and wildcard Katie Boulter (6-1, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, the Brazilian beat Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (3-6, 6-0, 6-4), Romanian Jaqueline Cristian (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Romanian Sorana Cirstea (6-2, 6-2).
