The dream mixed doubles pairing of Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu will remain just a dream after Raducanu pulled out of the Wimbledon mixed doubles event on Saturday due to stiffness in her right wrist.

The all-British pairing was scheduled to play their first-round match late Saturday evening against Marcelo Arevalo/Shuai Zhang.

Murray had pulled out of the men’s singles draw himself after failing to recover from a back surgery to remove a spinal cyst. The former world No 1 did take to the court on Thursday with brother, Jamie Murray, in the men’s doubles event but the duo was defeated in the first round by Rinky Hijikata and John Peers in straight sets.

The three-time Grand Slam champion, including twice at Wimbledon, was given a moving tribute by the All England Club after that match which now would be his last match at his home Grand Slam.

Raducanu is still in the women’s singles draw where she is scheduled to play against New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in the fourth round on Sunday.

The team’s place in the mixed doubles draw has been taken by alternates Rajeev Ram and Katie Volynets.
