Wimbledon: Pouille through to third round as Kokkinakis retires in fourth set

French qualifier Lucas Pouille moved into the third round of Wimbledon for the first time since 2019 when Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis retired in the fourth set at the All England Club on Thursday evening.

Pouille, ranked No 212, led 2-6, 7-5, 5-2 when Kokkinakis, ranked No 93, pulled out on Thursday evening at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.

The Frenchman will play Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 9 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, Lucas Pouille defeated Serb Laslo Djere (3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-1).

The Australian eventually beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 17 seed (4-6, 5-7, 7-6 (9), 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of The Championships.
